Dual-Screen Android Tablet by NEC At CES 2011

NEC at CES 2011 showed off their latest dual-screen Android tablet ‘LT-W Cloud Communicator’ powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex processor and two 7-inch 800 x 600 TFT LCD touchscreen displays, a 3.0-megapixel camera 720p HD video recording. Other features include an SDHC card slot with connectivity features like  GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 3G or 4G (optional), an accelerometer sensor, two USB ports. This dual scrren tablet runs on Android 2.1 OS. No word on pricing yet. Video after the post

    This is really cool. When it comes out, I’m guessing it will be in the same ball park in term of price as the iPad. What about apps and games can you download them like the iPad.

    It’s quite innovatory device. I suspect it’s first NEC device with Android OS. But also I’m not sure that many people will want to have “dual-screen”, folded device which looks like a book. In my opinion it is not “mobile” enougl. About technical side I can say:
    + good CPU, Cortex A8 1GHz
    + large screen 800×600
    – Old Android system 2.1. Currently there have been already released 2.2 and 2.3 and soon 3.0 will come. Between 2.2 and 2.1 there is a huge performance gap, because of JIT (just in time compiler) – about 200 to 500 percent faster.
